The photo to the left was taken ca 1893 aboard the Russian Armoured Cruiser "Dmitrii Donskoi" (from the identifying tallys) which fought in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-05 and was lost at the Battle of Tsushima and sunk in 1905. This photo clearly illustrates a group of Russian enlisted sailor's having their daily ration of rum or spirirts aboard ship. Note the strange rum/grog dispenser being used to dispense the spirits (Perhaps of shipboard manufacture)!
